Kick boxing first will be epic

The first ever official kick boxing match takes place next week at a unique venue, Treasure Island. It is between welterweights Bruce Coulson and Omar Dixon and should be a spectacular three round fight on 19 November on a white collar boxing show.

Local martial arts instructor Bob Daigle helped put this bout together. “We have been working behind the scenes trying to promote the sport of kick boxing in the Cayman Islands,” Daigle said. “When I heard that Rogue Gym would be hosting the popular white collar boxing event again I asked if they would consider allowing us to put one kick boxing fight on their fight card and they agreed.”

“The only other kick boxing match in the Cayman Islands that I know of was an exhibition bout between myself and one of my students Wayne McKenzie in the early Nineties at a local boxing event.

“Then we were holding back. In this fight nobody will be holding back. This is not an exhibition. Both fighters respect each other but when the bell rings, feet and fists will be flying with goal of knocking the other guy out.”

Anyone who is a martial arts fan will enjoy this clash. Both fighters will be hitting full force with punches, spinning back fists, kicks to the legs, body and head.
