Christmas at Belford draws large crowd

Christmas family fun day at Belford Estates in Bodden Town seems to get bigger and better each year.

On Monday, the day boasted many attractions such as a dunking drum and rides in a fire truck, as well as jerk chicken, hot soup, hot dogs, hamburgers, cakes and cold drinks for community members.

The highlight for everyone was the arrival of Santa Claus, he made sure every girl and boy, and even some adults not too shy to perform the hulla hoop dance, received a prize.

Bodden Town MLAs Mark Scotland and Dwayne Seymour added joy by bringing laughs while competing for the title of best dancing MLA.

The attraction was part of a family fun day hosted by the Belford Emergency Response Team.

The fun day, initiated in 2008 by the team, allows children to enjoy a day of community fellowship.

Response Team Liaison Officer Millicent Webster is pleased the team can do something for the children in the community this time of the year.

“Each year more people attend the function to enjoy the many attractions provided,” she said.

Because of the large response, Ms Webster’s team is looking forward to hosting the event again next year. The volunteer team acknowledges the people and businesses who contributed.
