East End sees battle for supremacy

Domino players in the Cayman Islands will be slamming away this holiday weekend.

Jacques Scott, along with the management of Mango Tree, will be hosting their annual Jacques Scott domino tournament on Sunday and Monday, 22-23 January.

The Mango Tree will see action starting from 1.30pm each day featuring Cayman Islands Domino Association registered teams. There will be cash prizes and trophies for the winners.

In addition to the tournament, the national domino league continues on Saturday, 21 January. The two East End teams, namely Eastern Star and East End Mystical Youth, face off against each other at Eastern Star Bar.

News of the matches comes after a pair of contests earlier this month. On 8 January Island All Stars beat Kelly’s by three points. Star players for All Stars were Oleta Elliott and Marcia Myles while Linton Barkley and Alphanso Ebanks kept Kelly’s in it. From there Singh’s Roti Shop beat Archies by 10 points. Roti’s star players were Don Myles and Otis Chambers and all of Archies team held their own.

Last Sunday, 15 January, Roti would slip up in a 29-point defeat to team DLK. Leading the charge for DLK were Mitchell Grant and Elvis Bodden and the star players for Roti were Omar McLean and Milton McKenzie.
