Launch Pad children visit Cayman Airways

Children from the Launch Pad Enrichment Centre in Savannah visited Cayman Airways on 7 February as part of their exploration of a theme about transportation.

The 35 children boarded a commercial airliner in the hangar at Owen Roberts International Airport in George Town, settling into their seats and buckling up for safety. They watched a safety video and visited the cockpit.

The children were also given Cayman Airways goodie bags filled with pictures, whistles, balls and a water bottle.

This field trip was made possible by Debra Rankin, a community representative with Cayman Airways, the national flag carrier of the Cayman Islands.

The Launch Pad Enrichment Centre is an early childhood education and development programme designed for children ages 2-4. Additional educational field trips are planned for Launch Pad pupils throughout February to continue to strengthen connections between lessons learned and life experiences.

Laurel Fraser, executive director of Launch Pad, said, “It is so important for children to make connections with their school learning and real experiences in the community. We are grateful that Cayman Airways responded to our request and made this dream trip become reality.”
