Students at North Side Primary School celebrated the 100th day of their current academic school year on 9 February with all the exuberant trappings of a boisterous festival – colourful balloons, costumes and smiling faces.
A 100-day morning assembly kicked things off, while all classes throughout the school day employed assignments concerning the number 100. The lessons regarding the number 100 ranged across the curriculum, including mathematics, English, creative writing, religion, art, and social studies.
Students gathered on the basketball court during the afternoon to form the shape 100. Each child had a special balloon and message that was released into the sky.
Students were also given the opportunity to dress as they would have either 100 years ago or 100 years from now.
Deputy Principal Joy Ebanks-King said, “This is a celebration that is done around the world, and I know my class and the entire school has been eagerly waiting for this day. Each of the students has been counting down since the first day of school. They look forward to this event every year.”
