The local Little League season is under way and March figures to be an action-packed month.
George Town’s Field of Dreams baseball facility sees numerous matches organized by the Cayman Islands Little League. The public is invited to a ball game throughout the week catering to the young and young at heart.
In the youth ranks, the 2012 T-Ball division caters to kids ages five and six. The co-ed competition has seven teams and sees games on Saturdays from 8.30am. Saturdays also see the Pony division, which has seven teams made up of kids aged seven and eight, in action from 10.30am.
The A division caters to kids aged nine and 10 and its six teams play on Fridays at 6.30pm. AA is for 11 and 12 year-olds with four teams in action on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 6.30pm. AAA is for 13 and 14 year-olds with three teams playing on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 6.30pm.
Girls softball, designed for young ladies aged 11-17, started last Saturday. It has four teams who play Saturdays at 4:30pm and Wednesdays at 6.30pm.
Adult co-ed softball features 25 teams and takes place Mondays to Thursdays at 8.15pm. Pick-up baseball games are now taking place on Sundays from 4pm and is geared for those age 15 and over.
