The Oscars always stir excitement in the Cayman Islands, but none were as excited as Sarah Sellars, who won the Caymanian Compass’ Oscars competition.
Entrants in the competition were asked to predict the Oscar winners in six major categories. Although this was no small task, the reward made it well worth spending time studying the nominees, as the winner would walk away with 50 movie tickets, courtesy of Hollywood Theaters in Camana Bay.
Ms Sellars said she had a system for picking her winners – she just went with the winners of the BAFTA awards.
She said she was very surprised and excited about the win, excitement that was shared by her kids.
“The kids are excited to be going to the cinema at least once a month from now on and a lot of friends have said that they’re coming with me,” she said. The win is likely to make Ms Sellars a formidable opponent at movie trivia nights and could give her a definite edge come next year’s Oscar predictions.
“I love going to the cinema and I shall go and watch all of the films when they get nominated next year,” she said.
Two runners-up, Jacqueline Hastings and Caroline Moore, won 25 tickets each.
