Builders make flawless run

Much of the focus in co-ed flag football will be on a pair of unbeaten teams.

The Cayman Islands Flag Football Association 2012 co-ed league playoffs get under way this Friday, 13 April, from 6pm. The Wolverines and the National Building Society are 6-0 coming out of the B and A division respectively.

Notable talents have steadied both sides at the Ed Bush field in West Bay. Oliver Parker, Zoenief Anderson and Alexandra Saintvil suit up for the Wolverines while Brendon and Lisa Malice guide the building society.

The Wolverines would finish ahead of Club House (5-1), Cobras (3-3) and Island Air (3-3). The building society meanwhile topped 4-2 Maples, 4-2 Argonauts and 4-2 Child Please!

In all, 14 teams took part in the league. Aside from the regulars, the competition attracted new talent like Gary Rutty with games taking place every Friday night.

It should be noted that this Friday will serve as the league climax. The semi-finals and finals will all take place on the evening with an after-party planned at Club House. Each division winner will receive a championship trophy and $150 tab at Club House.

News of the co-ed league comes as The Security Centre Limited Youth Flag Football League returns from its Easter break. Games are slated to take place across three age groups on Saturday, 14 April, from 12noon at Camana Bay’s sports field.
