Upsets were all the rage for the climax of co-ed flag football.
A pair of teams would go against the grain in the Cayman Islands Flag Football Association 2012 co-ed league finals.
Child Please! and Cobras would be the surprise winners at the Ed Bush field in West Bay.
Child Please! had the fourth and final playoff spot with a 4-2 record. Behind the likes of Will Peguero Junior, Kevin Solomon and Cassandra Bodden, the squad would claim the A division title ahead of Brendon Malice and the 6-0 regular season champs National Building Society, Rupert Whittaker and the 4-2 Maples and Dave Velez and the 4-2 Argonauts.
Cobras meanwhile were third in division B with a 3-3 mark.
With talents like Phil Brown and Damian Barboram, the squad would beat out 3-3 Island Air, 5-1 Club House and Oliver Parker and 6-0 regular season winners Wolverines.
In all, 14 teams took part in the league.
Aside from the regulars, the competition attracted new talent like Gary Rutty.
Games took place every Friday.
From here, the sport shifts into its national men’s and women’s competitions.
Slated to run throughout the summer, the leagues are organized by the association and the Grand Cayman Flag Football Association, with matches in West Bay and at the TE McField Annex in George Town.
