Albertini “The Bull” Holness has been known for his stellar pitching.
Lately he is proving equally fierce with the bat. Holness and Maples team-mate Jesse Jackson recently joined the Double A division “Over the fence homerun club.” Both smashed homers, lifting the ball well over the fence during their game against Pizza Hut earlier this month at the Field of Dreams facility in George Town.
They had help from rookie pitcher Matthew “AG” Johnson, relief pitcher Landon Parsons and hitters Francisco Fuentes and Aaron “The Ice” Miller.
Their efforts would not be enough to prevent a four-run win for the Pizza Hut Panthers. Justin Derrick energized the offence with a triple, Mario “Super Mario” Ebanks added a double and Gianno Williams got a key Runs Batted In double.
Pizza Hut player Zach Bodden was the hero, as he turned a game-ending double play in the top of the fifth. Pizza Hut had regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth and Maples were threatening to stage another comeback.
However, after winning five of their last six games, Maples has catapulted themselves from fourth to second in the standings.
After 12 games with six wins to their credit, Pizza Hut now has sole possession of first place.
