With his team facing elimination, Kadane Hall is desperate for basketball glory.
In fact, the West Bay resident guarantees his Titans will not lose game two of its opening round best-of-three series to the Butterfield Shockwaves.
“It is paramount and very important because it’s win or go home,” Hall said. “We can’t lose. We have to go out and play basketball, come out with a gameplan. Next game won’t be the same. We are not losing.”
The Titans are facing the Butterfield Shockwaves on Tuesday, 15 May, at 7.45pm in the Cayman Islands Basketball Association 2012 national men’s league division two playoffs. The side is coming off a double-digit loss to Butterfield, who featured talents like Darryl Paddyfoot and Michael Blackburn, in game one last Tuesday at Camana Bay’s Arts and Recreation Centre.
Hall, who averaged 7.8 points and 9.1 rebounds this season, states the series opener came down to crucial errors.
“We lost the last game in the third quarter. They went on runs and we couldn’t respond. Bruce Thompson had 20-something points, I had a double-double, but it’s not about points. We got to stick to the gameplan and not point fingers. If we don’t play together we will lose. We know what we can do.”
A Titans victory would force a decisive game three against Jonathan Powery’s troops next Tuesday, 22 May, at Camana Bay. More than likely, it would keep their hopes alive of facing Team Charterland for the division crown. The number one team, who went a perfect 9-0 in the regular season, avoided an upset with a narrow three-point win over the Rock Hole Fire Ants last Tuesday.
Only five players suited up for Charterland in Will Koutney, Chris LeBeau, Ovaine Monteith, Nathan Smith and Jeremy Strickland. Rock Hole meanwhile featured talents like Maxwell Linwood and Davion Foster.
Hall believes an upset remains a possibility for the Fire Ants, starting with game two this Tuesday at 6.15pm.
“It was down to the last shot and it was messed up. Rock Hole was not working the shot clock and Charterland did not counter on those errors. It was simple mistakes. Rock Hole can beat Charterland, I see that.
“Having only five guys, it hurts them. If they played our team or Shockwaves, they would have lost. Rock Hole are not a very fit team and could not press them. We would have the advantage with our fitness and youth.”
