Landscaping manager at The Ritz-Carlton, David Sams said it was an excellent experience for the group, adding, “They gained valuable techniques such as the proper and effective ways of planting.” The students also received some lessons on the use of plants, which can range from beautification to attracting butterflies.
The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman works in partnership with the school as part of its Footprints in the Community programme.
Project Grow helps children learn essential principles of gardening. The hands-on experience helps familiarise children with the relationships and cycles within nature, providing a link to healthy eating and nutrition. The gardening experience itself brings other health benefits such as exercise, time outdoors and a sense of well-being, also offering new and exciting ways to address nutrition.
