The Jacques Scott Group’s renovated warehouse on MacLendon Drive features a geothermal cooled refrigeration system that is 30 to 50 per cent more efficient than air-cooled equipment.
Nicholas Ward, the company’s finance director, said the energy savings will allow the company to recoup its additional investment on the equipment in about two years, according to a news release.
The warehouse is dedicated to storing chocolate and other temperature-sensitive food products.
With a geothermal cooling system, heat is removed from the building via underground piping, rather than outdoors.
