Rotaract Blue was well represented at the annual Rotaract District 7020 Conference recently held in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
District 7020 comprises of 10 countries and 50 Rotaract clubs in the Caribbean. Rotaract Blue walked away with several awards for its service to the Cayman Islands and international community during the past year, including the most prestigious District Club of the Year.
During the three-day conference, members had the opportunity to network with other Rotaractors from across District 7020, discuss and brainstorm project and fundraising initiatives, and receive training across all areas of service and at the executive board level.
To close the conference and commemorate the Rotaract year, which runs from 1 July through 30 June, there was a gala dinner where the achievements of clubs and Rotaractors were celebrated. Rotaract Blue was recognised for its initiatives in all four areas of service: club service, community service, international service, and professional development and Rotaract Blue received the District Award for Excellence in Community Service.
At the beginning of the 2011/2012 Rotaract year, all clubs within the district received guidelines for the District Board Awards with activities across and within all areas of service being assigned a point value. Rotaract Blue, along with four other clubs including its sister club, the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman, received the coveted District Gold Award, the highest level awarded to any club. For the first time in the club’s five-year history, Rotaract Blue was named the District 7020 Club of the Year. This award is the most highly sought after award and is an honour bestowed annually to the club that achieves its goals, demonstrates all around excellence, and makes a significant impact on its local and international community.
