Five-a-side relaunch sets goal of getting teams buzzing again

Five-a-side football is back after a hiatus and plenty of teams are intent on proving themselves kings of King’s Sports Centre.

There is a new management team organising the three divisions, headed by Alyssa Christian and Dave McLean.

After an uncertain start, all the games for this week only were cancelled, to give King’s enough time to organise a completed schedule. The first few matches played recently were just a tester for logistical purposes, so coinciding with the start of the Olympics, the five-a-side games will be the ultimate test too.

CFP Buzz Crusaders are the reigning Division 2 champs and they have no intention of relinquishing that title, having drawn 3-3 with Division 1 champs Bonaca Boys two weeks ago. Buzz beat BDO 5-2 in a Division 2 match last week.
