Steaks, beers and a Big Green Egg for competition winner

The task of preparing dinner will be a whole new experience in Krystal Cuccioletta’s home following her selection as the winner of Flava magazine’s BBQ competition.

Ms Cuccioletta was notified that she had been chosen as the winner of the competition earlier this month and on Thursday, 12 July, she took delivery of a Big Green Egg barbecue, courtesy of Jacques Scott and Bon Vivant, along with $400 worth of aged meat from Progressive Distributors, a catered barbecue for 12 people courtesy of Food For Thought and a case of Heineken to wash it all down from Jacques Scott.

“I’m very excited to have won this competition,” Ms Cuccioletta said. “My boyfriend is really into barbecuing, so this is going to be great.”

To enter the competition, members of the public were asked to submit their favourite barbecue recipe including ingredients and cooking instructions.

“My recipe was for a yoghurt marinated grilled chicken with tzaziki,” she said. “The tzaziki is an old family recipe and the chicken marinade is one we often do for dinner parties.”

Ms Cuccioletta confirmed she has a large backyard so there will be plenty of space to set up the Big Green Egg. She said she is looking forward to experimenting with the outdoor cooker.

As for the catered barbecue dinner, she is thinking about taking advantage of the prize to host her friend’s birthday.

Pick up a copy of September’s Flava to see the winning recipe. Other recipes submitted will be included in upcoming Flava columns in the Weekender.
