The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands is putting on all manner of art-related activities for children this summer, and youngsters in the Sister Island of Cayman Brac have not been forgotten.
This weekend there is a free art day camp being held at Heritage House in Cayman Brac, which begins at 10am on Saturday, 28 July, and goes on until 8pm on Sunday.
Always a popular event, there will be plenty of workshops and hands-on activities. Husband and wife team Randy and Nasaria Suckoo Chollette, both talented artists, will be heading up the course.
Nasaria, who can count art and poetry among her talents, is a member of the Native Sons and has had her works featured in competitions and exhibitions.
Randy, also an acclaimed artist and musician, paints in styles that range from realistic to abstract. He, too, has exhibited his work in shows.
Under this expert guidance, the children of Cayman Brac will explore music, poetry and art. They will have a chance to go beachcombing for objects they can then incorporate into a piece of art. The day will finish on a high note with an exhibition of the children’s creations for their parents and families.
