Archies edge Roti for playoffs

The postseason is set to begin in local dominoes.

East End Mystical Youth, team DLK, Island All-Star and Archies are the top four teams in the Cayman Islands Domino Association 2012 national league. All will do battle this month, at venues yet to be determined, for domino supremacy.

East End emerged winners for the second straight season with a 13-1 record, 4,198 points and a score of 65. DLK were second at 11-3 with 4,145 pts and a 55 score. Island All-Star were third at 8-6 with 4,0007 pts and a 40 score while Archies were fourth at 7-6-1 with 4,095 pts and a 37 score. Archies, whose home turf is Archies Bar in George Town, would edge out Singh’s Roti Shop, who came fifth at 7-6-1 with 3,981 pts and a 37 score.

The regular season finale took place last Sunday. Island All-Star beat Eastern Star by 78 points behind Ray “911” McLaughlin and Godfrey “Bigger Machine” Bowen; besting Eastern Star brothers Jamal and Joval McLaughlin. Mystical Youth crushed Sea Inn by 77 points behind Henry Dixon and Linroy McLaughlin; who outdid brother-sister duo William and Jessie Ebanks.

Sea Inn finished sixth at 4-10 with 3,901 pts and a 20 score, Kelly’s were seventh at 4-10 with 3,411 pts and a 20 score and Eastern Star were eighth at 1-13 with 3,487 pts and a five-point score.
