Letter to the Editor
Let it be publicly known that neither myself, (CMEA president), nor my executive committee, did create, approve or publish the Tuesday, 14 August, 2012, article in the Caymanian Compass DoT’s Swanky gigs cause discord.
For the record, the CMEA does represent all legal participants in the Cayman Islands Music and Entertainment Industry and for the sake of transparency and practical procedure, the CMEA does support the call for a process when making band or entertainer selections to represent the Cayman Islands.
My responsibility as the president of The Cayman Music and Entertainment Association is to encourage better relations with government, government departments and all entities involved in the Cayman Islands Tourism product so that the professional skills of musicians and entertainers can be known and recognised, giving the industry an opportunity to grow.
As president of the CMEA, questioning government’s business, via the media, is not a part of the agenda.
The CMEA supports Swanky Kitchen Band in their endeavours to represent and take the Cayman Islands history and culture to the masses by way of music.
The Swanky Kitchen Band is also strongly supported by Cayman’s and people in the Cayman Islands who recognise the need for Cayman history and culture education.
B.Hurlston
CMEA president
