The Cayman Islands Watercraft Association 2012 National Championship Series wrapped up last Sunday with an exciting climax because so many racers were battling for first place in their various categories.
From riders racing for their first time in the beginners’ class through to the expert open class with Cayman’s current world champion, Jordan ‘JJ’ McLean and the current Jet Around Cayman champion, Gary ‘GJ’ Whittaker going head to head for the first place position, it has been an extremely exciting and event-filled season.
The champions of each class, along with the second place finishers, will participate in the year’s International Jet Sports Boating Association World Finals. These will be held from 29 September to 7 October in Lake Havasu, Arizona and the racers will represent the Cayman Islands and Cayman Islands Watercraft Association as Team Cayman.
April Panton of the CWA said: “The Cayman Islands Watercraft Association would like to thank all of the sponsors that continue to support this sport, thank our teams for participating and all of the volunteers that help to put it all together.”
Winners were Kyle Brooks (Tony’s Toys) in the beginners category, Luke Welds (Tony’s Toys) in the novice class, Javier Medina (Nuttin 2 Lose) in the amateur class and Roshad Goff (Tony’s Toys) in the expert class.
