Pizza Hut hasn’t just been a prominent part of Grand Cayman’s landscape over the last 25 years; it has also been a main contributor to a number of community programmes, projects and charities. Happy to support those who have made it so successful since 1987, Pizza Hut understands that giving back should be the responsibility of any local business.
Each year there are football summer camps held in various districts such as West Bay and Bodden Town. Pizza hut donates pizzas to them annually, which of course doesn’t upset the participating children at all. What child doesn’t like pizza?
In fact Pizza Hut is quite involved in the local sports scene, particularly when it comes to baseball and football. There is a Pizza Hut-sponsored baseball team of the same name in the local Little League, and each season the team receives funds from their sponsor to use towards uniforms and equipment. There is also a Pizza Hut-sponsored flag football team that receives the same for uniforms, etc.
The company has also provided food for sea swims, such as the Butterfield 800 metres Sea Swim.
The Pines Retirement Home is always looking for assistance and so Pizza Hut has been happy to help by donating pizzas for one day each month so that the residents can enjoy a treat. These have always been gratefully received ever since Pizza Hut began the programme some time ago.
Any charity will admit that when it comes to fundraising, it wouldn’t be possible to be successful without the support of local individuals and companies. Over the years, Pizza Hut has been extremely generous to many charities by donating gift certificates to their cause. The Cayman Islands Cancer Society, the National Council of Voluntary Organisations and the Sunrise Adult Training Centre are just a few of the organisations that have benefited from those certificates.
Judy Wight, manager of Pizza Hut, has been very happy to contribute to all these local programmes over the years. “Pizza Hut has always tried to take an active part in the community,” she says, “and support charities whenever we can.”
