Mainstream sounds for Camana Bay

Ed Solomon and Mainstream have been a fixture on the Cayman scene for years.

Indeed, Ed tells Weekender, he has been playing alongside the keyboard player in the band for about 40 years.

“That dates us and it sounds like somebody’s grandfather,” laughs the musician.

Hubert Campbell, vocals and guitar, is also well known for various bands in the Cayman Islands. All three members of Mainstream sing.

“We do R&B, Jazz, a lot of 1960s stuff,” explains Ed. “We also do current songs. It depends on the crowd – the older crowd likes more soft, easy listening – Motown and rhythm and blues, that kind of stuff.”

The band has released a self-titled cover album and is working on an album of original material, which is something to definitely look forward to.

The band performs live at the Paseo in Camana Bay on Friday, 28 September from 7 to 10pm. As well as at this free outdoor event, you can catch Ed Solomon and Mainstream every Wednesday and Saturday at Hemingway’s Restaurant at Grand Cayman Beach Suites on Seven Mile Beach.
