Chamber launches new CayShop business showcase

After 20 years, the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce is revamping its annual event showcasing local companies.

The Business Expo is now retired and being replaced with CayShop 2012. The new showcase has a special category of registrations to allow involvement by smaller companies and artisans who may not have been able to participate in the former events.

In addition to the new branding, the business showcase has a new location at The Arc at Camana Bay. Taking place from 25-27 October, CayShop is also being held a bit later in the year than previous Business Expos.

Chamber CEO Wil Pineau said, “This is an exciting move for us and we are delighted that we are able to include more exhibitors. The Arc is a great location and visitors will have the opportunity to get some fantastic deals as all our exhibitors are offering special deals that will only be available at the CayShop event. This year the event is a little later so it’s an ideal time to pick up some early Christmas gifts at a great price.”

CayShop kicks off with an invitation-only event Thursday that is open to Chamber members. The showcase will be open to the general public on Friday from noon-8pm and Saturday from 10am-5pm.

As usual, LIME will have a significant presence at the event. Julie Hutton, marketing manager, LIME Cayman Islands said, “We are once again a major sponsor of this event and are delighted with the new location and the inclusion of local artisans and smaller businesses. We fully support shopping local during this tough economy and by supporting our local businesses we are supporting our local residents. Our booth will be an exciting place to visit with lots of hands on ‘toys’ to touch, feel and play with. We encourage everyone to come out and support this event.”

The Health Services Authority is also a major CayShop sponsor. At the event, the authority will provide free blood pressure testing, glucose testing, cholesterol testing and influenza vaccines.
