It’s only just over half way through October and there are still several breast cancer awareness fundraising events on the calendar. Whether you want to get out and run for the cause, or sit back and get a little pampering, you can still lend your support to the cause this month. Still come are the following events:
Saturday, 20 October: Brenda Tibbetts Lund Memorial 5K Run/Walk
Brenda Tibbetts Lund was a prominent breast cancer awareness activist who passed away in 1998 from breast cancer. Shortly after her death, the Lions Club of Grand Cayman established the annual cancer walk in her honour. It begins from Public Beach on West Bay Road at 6am, heads north to Vista del Mar and finishes back at Public Beach. Registration begins at 5.30am.
Sunday, 21 October: Cut a Thon at Ecplize, Camana Bay
From 2 to 6pm on Sunday, over 40 professionals from spas around the Island will come together to offer their time to perform wet cuts, manicures, eyebrow threading and $1 a minute back or hand massages to the public at reduced rates. All proceeds will go toward the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens Breast Cancer Awareness Fund to help in providing mammograms for those who are otherwise unable to afford them.
Sunday, 28 October: Sameena’s Day of Beauty
Sameena’s Beauty Salon, located on the waterfront in George Town, will be opening its doors on Sunday and offering all their usual spa and hair styling services, with all proceeds going toward the Cayman Islands Cancer Society.
