CARE for an excellent evening?

It’s the weekend – and therefore time to pause and enjoy a glass of wine. Or several. That’s right, the Cayman Animal Rescue Enthusiasts are holding their annual fundraising bash, Paws for Wine, this Saturday, 27 October.

It’s a fundraiser with a taste and this year the popular event takes place at Ristorante Pappagallo, starting at 7pm. Wine is the star of the show, and Blackbeard’s is sponsoring the event. The wine merchants will be showcasing wines from different countries, introducing the connoisseurs to something new and ensuring there is a wine to please every palate.

The ticket price includes wine tastings, canapes on arrival, food stations serving up bite-sized snacks, live entertainment, door prizes and live and silent auctions.

The highly entertaining Jay Erhart of Radio Cayman fame will be the emcee of the night and the talented Suite Elite will be providing musical entertainment, so expect a fun, informal and lively atmosphere.

Throughout the evening ticket holders will be able to bid on numerous services and experiences donated by local businesses, including Cayman Airways flights to the Sister Islands, staycations at local resorts, brunches, Christmas lunch for eight, dive charters, pieces of artwork and yoga certifications. You could even bid on Chef Marco from Pappagallo’s, who is offering to cook a traditional Christmas lunch in the comfort of your own home or office, along with Sommelier Flavio Andreatta.

If you’re worried you won’t be able to get maximum enjoyment from the wine and still drive home safely, fear not. The Brick House and the Dog House at Grand Harbour will be providing a 29 seater passenger bus, free of charge, which will depart the Grand Harbour at 6.30pm sharp, and can also stop at Treasure Island.

Proceeds from the event will enable CARE to continue the valuable work they do providing financing for the spaying and neutering of cats and dogs, which in turn keeps overpopulation in check, and to purchase welfare supplies such as dog houses, food, bowls and collars for dogs in the community.

CARE are hoping to sell all 200 tickets to the event. Tickets are available for $75 from Ristorante Pappagallo, Cayman Animal Hospital, Island Veterinary Services, Bliss Living Yoga, Must Love Dogs and Pet Paradise.
