Rankin bounces back…

Jon Rankin’s track and road racing career has been hampered for years by illness and injury, but having fully recovered the world class Cayman Islands runner emphatically announced his comeback with a first ever victory in the big race. He is the Cayman Islands record holder in the 800 metres, 1500m, 5,000m, half marathon and marathon. The 30-year-old athlete who is based in Cost Mesa, California, now aims for the world championships next year.

“For the past few years I’ve been recovering from illness and injuries and I had to stay motivated and worked hard and make plans,” Rankin said. “I want to make Cayman proud and winning the marathon was a start to that. I wanted to give a great performance.”
