A pig, a party, a private island

This whole festive season thing can get quite exhausting, but far better to keep the momentum going than to take a breather in those few days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Ortanique’s Caja China pig roast, on Thursday, 27 December is the ideal way to do just that. It’s a Cuban inspired party, with drinks, dancing and a mouth-watering pig roast thrown in.

The party takes place out on The Island, opposite Ortanique, so the usual formalities do not apply. Kick off your shoes, relax and get into the party mood – they’ll help you along with two – yes two! – free mojitos on arrival.

Everyone sits down together at big long tables, so you’ll be meeting your neighbours and making new friends right away.

A number of hors d’oeuvres will be passed around before the main feast begins. Then it’s an all-you-can-eat Latin-inspired feast of roasted pork, fresh vegetables, rice and beans and chicken.

A DJ will be pumping out tunes so feel free to get up and dance – you’ll need to make room for dessert, after all.

Food, drinks and fun are all included in the price, from 6 to 9pm. Space is limited so you will need to book in advance. It’s $60 for adults and $30 for under 12s. For reservations, call 640-7710.
