The national darts league is going strong in 2013.
The Cayman Islands Darts Association recently released the standings and statistics for the competition. League games have taken place on Wednesday nights at the Mango Tree, Fidel Murphy’s, Triple Crown, Pirates Den and the Grand Caymanian resort.
After eight weeks of play, the Pink House Dream Team is in first place with five points. Three teams have four points in team Fidel’s, Al La Kebab and The Expendables. Dart Vaders, Fil-Cay Pirates and team Ilocandia all have three points. Patriots, Top Zero and Breezy Way Darters have two points with Rainbow Legends sporting one point.
Association venue inspector Cassius Anglin states many players deserve props for their current form.
“The top men’s player and leading candidate for Most Valuable Player is Richard Campbell of Dart Vaders, who is undefeated in seven games with 28 tons and leads the way with 28 points,” Anglin said. “He is closely followed by Earl Smith of the Patriots with five wins, 34 tons and 27 points.
“Norrin Stewart of the Expendables is undefeated in five games and has produced the best game thus far with 16 darts and the highest finish of 119. Other notable players are Neville Parker, who has the most perfect scores of 180 with three, Cliff Weeks, Eugene De Guzman, Jeff Pascasio and Reni Delacruz.
“The top female players are Miriam Rodriguez and Rosyl de Guzman, both with five wins and one loss each. Liza Nanez is also among the top females and Nathina Ebanks is a female rookie that is making great strides.”
The national league is the second major local competition ongoing. Vice president Frank Martyr has spearheaded the ongoing Cayman versus Team Philippines monthly tournament. It takes place at the Mango Tree at the end of each month, with the next round of games slated for 23 February at 7pm.
