Online visitors to many of the Cayman Islands Government’s websites found them inaccessible Wednesday morning.
When users tried to access sites. including the Immigration Department, Legislative Assembly, CINICO or Government Information Service websites, among others, they instead saw a screen reading “No response from application web server” and advising them to notify the sites’ webmaster.
According to the director of the government’s Computer Services Department, Gilbert McLaughlin, the problem was caused by maintenance work.
“We were doing some early morning maintenance work and the servers were down for longer than we expected,” he said.
As the morning wore on, the sites came back online with the last ones returning to normal service about lunchtime.
