Children tennis players wanting to improve their game will get the expertise of master coach John Goede this week.
The International Tennis Federation coach from Suriname will be here for three days and has an events-packed schedule. Goede is an experienced coach who specialises in teaching large groups of young children.
He will be visiting some of the schools which are part of the Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands Schools Community Programme and the government’s after school programme. Goede will be working with the children, their teachers and tennis pros.
Goede is also holding a workshop on Friday afternoon for all tennis pros and physical education teachers from government and private schools.
On Saturday afternoon, the action is at the Paul Howard Community Courts for a Tennis 10s event hosted by Goede.
The sessions are free and scheduled for:
3.30 to 4.30pm for the under 7 years;
4.30 to 5.30pm for the 7 to 10 year olds.
As usual, all equipment will be provided, except drinking water.
Goede’s visit is sponsored by Cayman National.
The PwC Junior Circuit Tournament No. 3 is also this weekend. With tournament No. 2 only having finished last weekend thanks to poor weather, the islands’ top junior players have little time to rest. It is at the Camana Bay Courts and hosted by Cayman Tennis Academy.
Entry is $25 and entries must be in by Wednesday, 13 March, to the Cayman Islands Tennis Club or the Courts at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
