Flag football is taking a fresh step towards uniting its male and female players.
The Cayman Islands Flag Football Association recently formed a new executive committee at its recent Annual General Meeting at the Comfort Suites. Female player Maggie Ebanks was named association president, taking over for Jermaine Sharpe, who now serves as secretary.
Perry Levy is now the vice president of men’s affairs, with Adrean Russell being named vice president of women’s affairs. Antoinette Lewis is the treasurer, Alexandria Saintvil is the public relations officer, Phillip Brown is the fundraising coordinator and Rob Duty is the field supervisor.
The committee will oversee all aspects of both the men’s and women’s leagues. This year, a few new positions will be created to provide more members the opportunity to give back and offer input to the operations of the association.
We, in the association, are excited about 2013 and all the planning and organizing that comes along with it. Furthermore, as some of you may already know, the association is excited to announce the return of our Women’s Premier League. We believe the consensus choice is to facilitate both leagues at one venue and as an association, we strongly support this initiative.
We have the resources and “know how” to seamlessly handle this transition and look forward to with working with you all to accomplish this. We will be extremely open to recommendations.
All of the executive board bring years of experience in the sport, with most having played in the various local adult leagues. Some, like Ebanks, have also starred in the Grand Cayman Flag Football Association through their Dart Women’s League.
The association would like to say a big thank you to all sponsors, members and officials for helping us have such a successful year. We would also like to recap all of the champions for 2012: Hellcats (Premier), Child Please! and Cobras (Co-ed), USA (Men) and Jamaica (Women) for the Caribbean Regional Cup.
A special congratulations to GCFFA champions Wolverines. Please see our web site for additional 2012 award winners at http://ciffa.ky/index.php?p=custom&page_id=4
The association would like more feedback from participants and the general public to address concerns going forward. The entire executive board can be reached via e-mail. Maggie’s address is [email protected], Perry’s address is [email protected] and Adrean’s address is [email protected].
The other e-mail addresses are [email protected] (Antoinette), [email protected], [email protected] (Alexandria), [email protected] (Phillip) and [email protected] (Rob).
