Sunset shone brightly

The most surprising result in the first round of the Football Association matches over the weekend was that First Division Sunset beat Premier League Cayman Athletic thanks to a goal by Jonathan McLaughlin.

The midfielder struck in the 25th minute at the TE McField Annex on Saturday and Sunset spent most of the rest of the match defending resolutely. It was a magnificent victory for the First Division leaders, who along with Roma are intent on returning to the top flight.

Roma had plenty to celebrate, too, winning 1-0 as well against Premier League opposition. Roma beat North Side after Raggilow Blake ran in from the right and fired low for the deserved victory in the 15th minute of extra time.

In other games, Tigers, who have not won in the Premier League all season, beat Cayman Brac, 3-1. Norman Montoya scored twice for Tigers and Brian Scott the other. Brac scorer was Stephen Tatum.

George Town smashed seven past lowly Future, who are at the foot of the First Division. Two hat tricks by Justin Pierre and Tex Whitelocke, plus a Kevin Moore strike, did the damage.

In the biggest game of the day, Elite beat Scholars International, 2-1. Mark Ebanks and Jairo Sanchez got the Elite goals and Oneil Taylor scored for Scholars.

East End were another First Division side to beat Premier League opposition, triumphing 4-1 against Prospect. Andrew Browning fired in two goals for East End and Rodrick Pearson and Sean Ebanks got the others. Jeremy Welcome was the Prospect scorer.
