Filipino volleyball is wrapping up over Easter.
The 2013 Philippine Volleyball Club Coed Fun League is hosting its finals and awards ceremony on Sunday, 31 March, from 6pm at the Airport Park in George Town.
Endorsed by the Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation, the league began in mid-February, attracting some 11 teams. Those participating included the Angry Birds, CayFil, Elite Spikers, FCC A, FCC B, Guardians, Nephils Strikers, Nuisance, Prince Louie and Prince Lance, The Ritz-Carlton “Ambassadors” and The Committee.
Last Sunday’s semifinals saw Angry Birds play Elite Spikers, while Nephils Strikers battled CayFil.
For the record, the Filipino club’s organising committee has 13 people including Cayman national team player Joebert Macasling.
News of the Filipino league comes after Cayman hosted the 2013 North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation tour opener at Grand Cayman’s Public Beach. It was the fifth consecutive year the tournament kicked off here.
