Rogue move broadens its range

Combat sports enthusiasts who support Rogue Gym’s excellent setup, now have a new venue to attend classes and watch smoker shows as well as take in the extensive experience of new Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor Luca Cantelli.

The Rogue Gym has relocated to Trafalgar Place, beside Duke’s restaurant down by the new Dart hotel on West Bay Road on the plaza where the Jungle Bar
used to be.

It is smaller so there is no ring up, but it is far cleaner, with bathroom, a changing room and air conditioning. Rogue’s instructors are hoping to get a broader and larger membership base.

Grey Brett is running the first Muay Thai classes this week and they have brought in proper combat mats, too, so it is safer and more suitable for Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Cantelli began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under the mixed martial arts legend Rodrigo Gracie, the 1998 ADCC Submission Wrestling world champion.

Cantelli earned his black belt status under the legendary Renzo Gracie in his New York City academy, where he had the opportunity to train with the elite of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, including the rest of the Gracie clan Daniel, Rolles, Igor and Gregor.

“I think the introduction of formal BJJ to Cayman falls in line with what this organisation has always tried to do, be at the forefront of combat sports in the Cayman Islands,” Rogue Gym manager Chris Dinan said.

“Not only does this add another element to Rogue’s current boxing, Muay Thai, grappling and MMA offering, but we believe this helps solidify Rogue as the islands’ foremost martial arts fitness academy.”
