The National Trust for the Cayman Islands is inviting the public to join its celebration of World Heritage Day on Thursday, 18 April.
The trust is hosting a full slate of activities this month in recognition of Earth Month, including Thursday’s celebration of heritage at the Mission House to the Great Outdoors Family Fun Day at Dart Park.
The grounds and building of the Mission House will be open to the public from 5.30 to 6.30pm Thursday, for a short presentation on Cayman’s heritage with a focus on the Cayman Islands’ relationship with its marine resources. Admission is $9 for National Trust members, $12 for nonmembers and free for all fishermen. Food will be provided.
The National Trust’s annual Earth Day Golf Tournament, Cayman’s “greenest” golf tourney, takes place the following day, on Friday, 19 April, at which players have the chance to win a Wheego electric car. Other prizes include a luxury boat charter, helicopter tour and stay and round of golf for two at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. Golfers can enjoy a free day-long barbecue from Boss Hogg and complimentary Caybrew. Entry is $600 per team of four.
The National Trust Great Outdoors Family Fun Day is happening on Sunday, 28 April from 3 to 5pm at Dart Park, South Sound. Kids, parents and kids-at-heart are all invited to the Trust’s official Earth Day event for 2013 featuring family-friendly activities, games and prizes. Iggy, the Trust’s Blue Iguana mascot will be on site for photos and the afternoon’s activities include face painting, a diabolo competition, bouncy castles, fun, recyclingactivities with JUNK.ky, potted plants art (take your own plant home), carnival games, lots of food and great prizes for everyone. Participants are encouraged to bring their aluminium cans, glass bottles and plastic bottles (with caps removed) for recycling. Admission is free.
