Oreo the dog launches new book

K-9 meets, greets kids, signs book

Oreo the dog and his pals made an appearance at Books and Books last Saturday for the launch of a book based on the author’s tale of their lives as dogs in Grand Cayman.

The youngsters sat betwixt one another in eager anticipation of the story of Oreo and his buddies and their lives as puppies in George Town, before ending up at the Human Society and eventually hitting the dog lottery by being adopted by a wonderful family, who would then write a book about his plight and triumph.

Juliette Heath, author of the book, as well as Oreo’s best friend explained, Oreo was the true inspiration for this book. Since a pup he has been the gentlest spirited dog. A picture I have of him nose to nose with a baby chick inspired the Series name “Hello my Name is Oreo” since that is what he appeared to be saying! Each Series has a sub title, the first is Puppy Dogs Tails, the second is Oreo’s Tail.

My love of dogs also inspired this book and the want to educate people about Pitbulls and let people know that all dogs can be good dogs when in the right hands. It is to educate children and also hopefully help them understand a little more about our four legged friends. The book is very light hearted and fun but addresses serious issues.”

During Saturday’s session, youngsters were also able to meet and pet Oreo, who then autographed books with his own paw print.
