Cycling returns to competition this weekend, and throughout May, following the successful staging of the 100-mile Bike Challenge last month.
It’s the seventh annual Cycling Classic Series, sponsored by Subway.
This is Subway’s first time sponsoring a cycling event in the Cayman Islands in conjunction with the Cayman Islands Cycling Association.
The series will consist of four events. The 10-Mile Time Trial is first, from Breakers at 7.30am, on Sunday, 5 May, followed by three races, the 57-Mile Road Race, Circuit Race and Criterium race in downtown George Town, completing the Subway Classics on 26 May.
Craig Merren, president of the cycling association, said: “The Subway Cycling Classic series aims to bring cycling to all corners of Grand Cayman, from East End to West Bay.”
“From all the members and fellow cyclists of our association we sincerely appreciate your participation and wish you the best of luck.”
The series winner will be by time gained throughout the individual events.
There are four categories for each event and the overall classification – Open Men, Open Ladies, Junior boys and girls and Masters. Should participation merit it, categories for Master women may be added.
