There’s nothing like a nice bracing walk to start off a day, we always say.
Admittedly, we usually say it in an abstract sense, in that what we really mean is, “we might wander to the pub when we manage to drag ourselves out of our pit at some time between 11am and sunset”. But the point still stands.
If Weekender was less of a shonky stickabed, we’d be right at the front of the annual Discovery Day Run/Walk at Camana Bay, which starts at 7am on the Paseo.
It’s in a great cause, too – Cayman Heart Fund is raising funds for 11 AED units for the public schools in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, as well as the University College of the Cayman Islands.
Participants, we gather, will run or walk twice around the Town Centre in Camana Bay. Registration is $10 for adults and $5 for children 16 and under and can be made online, at the pre-registration booth underneath the Observation Tower on Friday, 17 May, 5.30 to 9pm or Saturday, 18 May, from 10am to 4pm, or at the Information Commissioners Office in Elizabethan Square the week before the race.
So get to it! Maybe this year you might even see us there, too. Imagine!
