Youth hockey is in playoff mode at Kings Sports Centre.
The 2013 national youth roller hockey league staged its regular season finale earlier this month as the KPMG Senators clipped the Penguins, 8-5, in the Squirts 13-Under segment. Alex Agemian paced the Senators with five goals and one assist while Jacob Walters had three goals for the Penguins.
The Jets then clipped the Maples Leaf, 7-4, as Jack Lewis notched three goals and one assist. Danny Link led Maples with two goals.
In the Mites 10-Under category, the Ecay Traders clipped the Bruins, 5-4, as Molly Kehoe had three goals and one assist and Jabari Waldron posted two goals and two assists. Brad Lansdell had two goals for the losing team.
The PwC Jets hammered the Ernst and Young Eagles, 10-2. Ethan Finlason, Ryan Goodwin and Bejmain Sommerville put together nine goals and three assists between them with Alex Priestly nabbing a goal for the Eagles.
In the Atoms 8-Under division, Deloitte Hurricanes stormed past the Lightning, 7-6. Molly Kehoe was on fire with seven goals while Jaxon Cover notched two goals and one assist.
The Dart Ducks clipped the Mourant Marksmen, 14-12, in an explosive contest. Kayden Knapik and Jake Booker combined for 13 goals for Dart while Cameron Smith scored nine goals and one assist.
The playoffs started on Wednesday in the Squirts category. The rest of the teams will be in action this Saturday, 18 May. Matches typically run at Kings from 8am until 4pm.
League games began in mid-January and will continue during the coming weeks on Saturdays. Aside from the Squirts, Mites and Atoms segments, the league offers action via a Tykes 6-Under practice group and a learn to skate programme.
