Getting fit is always a noble cause but this weekend’s Zumba extravaganza has an added power.
That’s cause it’s in aid of little Emmis Ebanks, just two years old, who is currently in Miami suffering from mouth cancer.
So head down to the South Sound Community Centre at 9am to 10.30am on Saturday, 25 May with a contribution of $25 to join the Zumbathon which will raise much-needed funds for this poor little mite who deserves every chance.
The family has applied to the Cancer Foundation for support and through the Zumbathon and the ARK Foundation the intent is to raise funds toward travel costs and hotel accommodation. All money raised from the Zumba event goes toward little Emmis.
Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba’s choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves. Squats and lunges are also included. Approximately 14 million people take weekly Zumba classes in over 140,000 locations across more than 150 countries.
