Cooking classes set for budding children chefs

In addition to their evening cooking classes for adults, Bon Vivant is running a series of cooking classes for children in the first week of July.

Classes last one hour and in that time, budding young chefs will be given snacks to chomp on while learning to cook tasty, healthy treats they can take home with them.

Two classes run daily, the first from noon to 1pm is for 4 to 7 year olds, and the second, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, is for 8 to 13 years olds. Children can learn to prepare different treats each day:

Tuesday, 2 July is the Budding Baker Day, where they will make soft pretzels and bread sticks with whole grains.

Wednesday, 3 July is Sweet Treats, where cookies and treats with healthier ingredients are introduced.

Thursday, 4 July: The first class will make safari-themed healthy snacks, and the second will visit the farmers market and make snacks with local produce.

Friday, 5 July is chocolate attack, where youngsters will learn about the history of chocolate before making beautiful chocolate treats.

The cost is $30 per class
and spaces are limited.
