Man, 20, arrested for shooting in West Bay

A young man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a West Bay shooting that occurred last month.

The 20-year-old suspect was arrested in the West Bay area on suspicion of attempted murder. He was not immediately charged with any offenses.

The victim, a 22-year-old man, was shot inside a home on Powell Smith Drive on Aug. 24. He was hospitalized in stable condition after the incident.

Police said the victim reported that he was injured when several shots were fired at a house. Authorities didn’t elaborate about the nature of the man’s injuries. Several spent shells were recovered and multiple bullet holes were observed in a building, said Royal Cayman Islands Police Service Chief Inspector Patrick Beersingh.
