Man shot dead in WB

Update, 9:30 a. m., Monday, Sept. 16: Police confirmed Monday that the man shot dead in West Bay Sunday night, 52-year-old Irvin Garlon Bush, was killed as he was entering his home in Miss Daisy Lane.

A murder investigation incident room is being set up at the George Town Police Station, police said.

Royal Cayman Islands Police were investigating a homicide Sunday night in West Bay. 

According to RCIPS Chief Inspector Brad Ebanks, a shots fired call was reported just after 10 p.m. on Miss Daisy Lane. 

A man was found at the location, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Residents in the area of the shooting Sunday night said they heard four shots ring out shortly after 10 p.m.

The dead man was identified as Irvin Bush of West Bay. Mr. Bush was said to be the father of Robert Macford Bush, who was shot and killed in the same general area of West Bay back in September 2011.

The last shooting death to occur in the Cayman Islands was Dec. 16, 2012 in George Town, when Jackson Rainford was gunned down.
