Office league to hoop it up

Local basketball will once again showcase top white collar talent.

The Department of Sports is launching its annual Corporate Basketball League. Matches start this week at the Cayman Islands Basketball Association Court off Eastern Avenue in George Town.

Monday night sees a doubleheader as Ernst & Young faces Intertrust Group at 6:15 p.m., while Caledonian battles dms Broadcasting at 7:30 p.m. The other teams taking part in the 2013 competition are Deloitte, the Butterfield Dragons, Maples and Calder, Maples Finance and perennial frontrunners Department of Sports. Expect to see established basketball talents like Collin Anglin and Benieca Thompson storm the court.

Games will take place twice a week outdoors, with the regular season ending on Dec. 11. The playoffs start Dec. 16, with the championship game on Dec. 18.
