It truly is shaping up to be a clash of the titans.
The A League finals for the 2013 Fall Adult Coed Softball League, put on by the Cayman Islands Little League Association, takes place on Thursday, Nov 7. Game one between the Tower Marketing Titans and KPMG A is at 6:30 p.m. on field four at the Field of Dreams facility in George Town, with game two, if necessary, at 8 p.m.
On one hand, Tower Marketing breezed through the regular season with the competition’s best record at 10-2 thanks to a league-high 198 runs scored. The top seed for Ryan Ebanks and company did not translate to an easy playoff run as the Titans lost their first postseason contest to the A.L. Thompson’s Hammers, 16-15, before rebounding to beat the Coors Light Chuggers, 14-3, and get revenge against the Hammers, 17-15, on Monday.
KPMG, under the fearless leadership of Doug Harrell, are the reigning top flight champions. They had the A League’s second seed at 8-4 before enjoying a forfeit playoff win over Rhino Rebar and a 15-13 win over the Hammers.
Aside from the A League final, Thursday offers the semi-finals for the B League. Phoenix Hard Hats will challenge Rackam’s Crabbies for a spot in the championship game on field three at 8 p.m. Phoenix, coming off a disappointing 4-8 regular season record, have two wins in the playoffs, benefitting from a PwC B forfeit and a 13-12 win over Master Batters. Rackam’s, 5-6-1 during the season, beat BritCay twice, 15-5 and 9-5, and defeated Deloitte, 7-6.
Awaiting either the Hard Hats or Crabbies next week is the Al la Kebab Hitmen. Al La Kebab is the B League’s top seed at 8-3-1 and in the playoffs the Hitmen crushed Rackam’s, 20-7, before beating Phoenix, 18-17.
