To enable customers to collect packages in time for Christmas Day, the Cayman Islands Postal Service is extending its opening hours at the Airport Post Office on Saturday, Dec. 21 and on Christmas Eve.
On Dec. 21, the Airport Post Office will be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Dec. 24 from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All other post offices on Grand Cayman will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve. On Cayman Brac, the West End and Stake Bay post office hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while the post offices at Creek, Watering Place and Spot Bay will be open from 9-11:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve.
The Little Cayman Post Office will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Christmas Eve.
All post offices will be closed on New Year’s Eve to facilitate a staff function.
According to a statement from the Cayman Islands Postal Service, if incoming parcels, EMS or small pack items are received by the post office by Dec. 23 and have an invoice, the items will be processed for customers’ collection by Christmas Eve.
The Customs Department requires all packages that need to be assessed have an invoice, which can be emailed to [email protected] or faxed to 345-945-6876.
The postal service advises that customers should also include the following information with their invoice: The item’s tracking number (13 character number in the format of XX000 000 000 XX) as the tracking number is essential to match the invoice to the package; the addressee’s name and postal address; and the addressee’s email address (if available).
Customers can submit a Watch For Request (found at www.caymanpost.gov.ky) for any item with a tracking number. If the request includes a valid email address, the notice will be emailed to the customer as soon as the item is ready for collection, the postal service said.
