Car slams into truck

Driver injured in crash

A motorist was injured Thursday morning after he lost control of his car on a wet road in Bodden Town and crashed into a dump truck.

The accident occurred at the junction of Manse Road and Bodden Town Road around 7.45 a.m.

According to witnesses, the car, which was traveling toward Bodden Town from the George Town direction, skidded on the wet surface and collided with the side of the truck. The driver of the truck, which was traveling along Bodden Town Road from the opposite direction, said he veered his heavy vehicle into Manse Road to avoid a head-on smash.

Truck driver Dwain Rivers said, “I had to do that, [otherwise] it would have been a head-on collision. The car just came around the corner eastbound sliding and skidding all over the place. When I realized he was heading directly at me, I had to swerve.

“I turned the truck off into Manse Road just as the car slammed into the side of the truck and spun off.”
Royal Cayman Islands Police officers and ambulance crew were quickly at the scene of the accident. The man was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment.
