Man arrested in East End stabbing

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a fight at an East End home that ended with him and another man in hospital.

The 24-year-old man injured in the fight had stab wounds to his head and chest. The suspect was being treated for an injury to his arm.

Police said the altercation started inside a house on John McLean Drive around 8 p.m. Wednesday and spilled out on to the street, where the alleged stabbing happened.

The fight broke up after nearby residents intervened, at which point the suspect ran away. He was arrested by police around 40 minutes later and transported to hospital for treatment to an arm injury.

The men were known to each other, police said in a statement.

A spokeswoman said, “Police and paramedics arrived on the scene a few minutes after the incident took place. The injured man, aged 24, was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital suffering from lacerations to his head and torso. His condition is described as stable.”

Both men were still in hospital Thursday afternoon.

Anyone who was in the area at the time, and who has not already spoken to police, is asked to contact Bodden Town CID on 947-2220 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).
