Woody reaches 19

Bodden Town’s Theron “Woody” Wood is on fire at the moment. The striker hit five goals for the league and FA Cup champs in an 8-1 annihilation of Academy last week.

Ricoh Brown (2) and Alex Belcher scored Bodden Town’s other goals. Ernie Jacques scored for Academy in the dying seconds.

Elite beat North Side 4-0 through strikes by Mark Ebanks, Jairo Sanchez and two by Dwayne “Gaza” Wright.

Miguel Simms hit both goals for George Town in their 2-0 win over Cayman Athletic.

Scholars International captain got a brace too as they beat Sunset 3-0 in the final midweek game. Chris Douglas got the other Scholars goal.

On Sunday, Sunset produced one of the best results of the season by beating previously undefeated George Town 4-1 at the TE McField Annex.

Sunset scored twice in the first half, the first from Tim Edwards with a great header from a magnificent cross by Tom Chipchase and the second from the penalty spot by Alfredo Challenger after Chipchase had been fouled.

The second half started brightly again for Sunset who were put under pressure by the league leaders but after 60 minutes Tim Edwards turned on a ball in the box and drove his second home for Sunset’s third.

George Town pulled one back from the penalty spot on 75 minutes through Aerial Tatum but five minutes later Justin Pierre finished from close range after some amazing work by Challenger. Sunset thoroughly deserved the victory and credit should go to the management team of Gareth Thacker and Ian Lomas who have ensured they adapted quickly in the Premier League after winning the First Division championship last season.

Fabian Malcolm scored the solitary goal, for Academy, as they beat North Side 1-0. Wood was prolific again for Bodden Town in their 4-2 victory over Cayman Athletic. Woody hit a hat-trick and Aldredo Cardoza got the other. Christopher Ebanks and Christopher Myles got Athletic’s goals.

Wood’s tally is now 19 and second placed Wright of Elite is way behind on 11.

The clash of the top West Bay sides ended in a 1-1 draw. Mark Ebanks scored for Elite and Oneil Taylor hit the Scholars International goal.
