Scouts campfire sparks friendship and fellowship

Scouts Week culminated Saturday night with songs and storytelling around a well-built campfire.

The campfire at the Savannah Pedro playing field marked the end of the week-long schedule of activities enjoyed by the scouts in an atmosphere of good cheer and camaraderie.

As guests gazed into the campfire’s flames, scouts, guides, brownies, beavers, rainbows and brigadiers showcased their creative abilities in drama, skits, music and story-telling.

After the lighting of the fire by Zachary Lindwood, the Scouts Executive Commissioner Winston Hale declared the event open and invited guests to enjoy the activities planned for the night.

“The fire is symbolic of the warmth and friendliness within the scouting movement. [The] magic of the flames seems to draw people closer together in friendliness,” he said.

Mr. Hale cautioned the young people from the different scout sections to stay on course. He said they were doing the right thing by being members of the scout movement.

He encouraged them to explore all the possibilities and potentials and become the best of what they could be.
